Educators Retired Club

Meeting Notice 
 

The Educators Retired Club will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 10th.  Location is Canal Street Recreation Center.  Speaker will be John Rohan who will share his years of experience in developing The Villages as America’s Friendliness and Healthiest Hometown.  Mr. Rohan will highlight initial startup of The Villages in the 1970s, the major expansion in the 1990’s and final build out plans for the 2010’s.  Be sure NOT to miss this meeting.

 

Dues

 

Yearly dues of $5 will be collected at the meeting.  Think back over the past year and review how much you receive for your $5 dues.

 

Election of Officers

 

Officers for 2012 will be elected on January 10.  Nominees presented by
the Nominating Committee and Board of Directors are:

·         President – Mary Woods

·         Vice President – Renie Larson

·         Secretary – Carol Builta

·         Financial Secretary – Gail Feind

·         Treasurer – John Stene

Names may be offered from the floor for consideration in the election.Please be present to cast your vote for leadership of our club.

 

Entertainment at Holiday Party

 

Children from The Villages Elementary School of Lady Lake provided entertainment for our annual holiday party in December.  It was an awesome experience for all who attended the party.  Scott Baltunis is the magnificent leader of this chorus of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.  We presented a $250 check for purchase of music and instruments for the elementary school’s music program.  See the picture below.

 

Opportunity for Clinical Supervision and Evaluation of Interns

 

The University of Central Florida is looking for educators with a master’s degree or higher degree to be a clinical supervisor for their interns in Sumter and Lake counties.  Positions are part-time adjunct jobs.  Evaluation training will be provided by the college.  Persons hired as adjunct instructors must have classroom teaching experience in the appropriate level of instruction.  Resumes should be submitted to Janet Zajac, Instructor/Clinical Coordinator, University of Central Florida, School of Teaching, Learning and Leadership, College of Education, P.O. Regular Meeting Times

On October 11, members of the Educators Retired Club visited The Villages Charter High School.  Dr. Randy McDaniel, Director of Education, was our host.  We visited all the academies and learned about advanced level (college credit) coursework.  During our 1 ˝ hour visit, the group meet many teachers and students.  A picture was taken when we first arrived.
